Acid Reflux is also know as Gastroesophacal Reflux Disease (GERD).  It is more than just heartburn (a burning pain in your chest).  If you have GERD, you may have stomach acid entering your esophagus.  Side effects can be irritation, pain, or inflammation.  You should talk to your Doctor about GERD.  Below are some Herbal Supplements which may reduce, or eliminate the symptoms of Acid Reflux (GERD).

Chamomile is a member of the Asteraceae family.  It grows wild in Western Europe, India, and Western Asia, and has become popular in the United States, growing in fields, pastures, and well drained areas.

There are two varieties of Chamomile.  First is German Chamomile (Chamomilla recutita) and second is Roman Chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile).  The flowers contain terpenoids and flavonoids.  Chamomile has become popular for treating health ailments, such as menstrual disorders, inflammation, hay fever, gastrointestinal disorders, and hemorrhoids.

Chamomile is used in cosmetics and essential oils.

Ginger is a member of the Zingiberaceae family.  It is a herbaceous flowering perennial plant which grows about one foot tall with narrow leaves, and produces clusters of white and pink flower buds that bloom into yellow flowers.  Ginger is native to Southeast Asia, and has grown as far as Hawaii.  It was traded as a spice in Asia and Europe, and was used by Ancient Greeks and Romans.  World production has reached 2.8 million tons with India consuming 32% of the world total.

Ginger was first written about during the Warring States period (475-221 BC).  It was said that Confucius ate Ginger with every meal.

Ginger is cultivated, and does not exist freely in the wild.  The English word Ginger is from Sanscrit, "horn" and vera "body" which describes the shape of its root.  Originating in the 14th Century.
